Why we Exist

Travel is more than freedom, discovery and beautiful destinations. Often times it’s about the people you get to share these experiences with…. And sometimes travel can get lonely, and even overwhelming.

Cape Coliving is about having community and comfort — from day one. We created this space for the people who always wanted to come to Cape Town, despite the long flights, safety concerns, or not knowing anyone here. 

We want to show people the magic of this city, and the lifestyle it offers when you’re surrounded by the right crew. Where you can build connections, routine and to make Cape Town one of your favourite cities to visit.

Our mission is to bring together open-minded humans who value productivity, growth, and connection. We believe in the power of community to turn strangers into collaborators, travel into lifestyle, and a house into a home.

How did Cape Coliving come to be? It wasn’t born from a conventional business plan but from a personal, decade-long search.

I’m Matt, the founder. A South African from a little place in the Garden Route. For over a decade, my journey was defined by travel. 

Helping travel companies through my marketing agency, Travel Tractions, allowed me the freedom to explore globally for the last decade, chasing experiences, flights, stays and connections.

The more I traveled, the more I found Cape Town to be one of the most incredible places to live, and something I knew I wanted to share through the lifelong dream of opening a hostel, hotel or Airbnb one day.

My perspective shifted when I discovered my first coliving during a stay in Mallorca, Spain (shoutout Palma Coliving). And a year long property search in Cape Town began… 

On a return trip to Mallorca, I met Dakota – now my partner in life and Cape Coliving. 

Dakota joined me at the launch of Cape Coliving, bringing her warmth and becoming the soul of our community and social presence. 

In 2024, our family grew again with Feli, whose infectious energy and welcoming smile have become synonymous with the Cape Coliving experience.

 

Our home is a beautifully restored Cape Victorian Dutch guesthouse, thoughtfully redesigned for modern co-living and co-working. 

 

Inside, you’ll find a blend of private sanctuaries and inviting shared spaces. 

 

Each with it’s own private bathroom and working desk.

Imagine a place where productivity meets connection, set against the stunning backdrop of Cape Town.

Book a room on on the book now page, fill in the quick form to secure a room.

 

Almost everything. Your rent covers all utilities, taxes, and fees. Early check-in, check-out, and extra guests may be subject to additional charges.

We take community seriously and offer a variety of engaging events to foster connections among residents. From weekly lunches and weekend activities to workshops and classes, there’s always something happening. Our weekly family meetings are designed to cater to different interests and help you build meaningful relationships with your co-residents.

50% is due upon booking our room. 50% 1 month before arrival.

300 breakage deposit upon arrival

Cancellation before 30 days of date of arrival, 100% of accommodation total paid, will be refunded.

Cancellation on 30 days before arrival, 50% of accommodation total paid, will be refunded.

Cancellation within 15 days of date of arrival 25% of accommodation total will be refunded

Cancellation within 7 days of date of arrival 0% of accommodation total will be refunded.

Breakage deposit returned 2 weeks after departure.

Unfortunately we are not pet-friendly. If you have a furry friend, please check with us regarding our pet policy.

We’re committed to ensuring your living space remains comfortable and functional. If you have a maintenance request for your room, simply chat to our resident happiness co-ordinator. Our dedicated maintenance team will promptly address your request and work to resolve any issues as efficiently as possible.

Yes, we provide convenient on-site laundry facilities for our residents. You’ll have easy access to washing machines and dryers, making laundry day hassle-free. 

 

Yes, but please check with us and your other community manager first, as space in the communal areas may be limited. We also charge a small fee of €15 per extra person per day or €400 for the month.
